Change

Luisa makes and excellent point "It is also true that people who want to change their life and find new challenges have to put themselves in the right direction...ie in the direction of "changing"!"


I agree, change is more than day dreaming and assuming that our preferred direction and goals will be attained. Change is based upon specific choices, life commitment and action. Being in the right place at the right time is more reliant upon our willingness to accept our challenges and move ahead regardless.

Spring - the flush of awakening

Spring has arrived in Washington DC and the sticks and stones of winter are now a softening memory. As a newcomer to a region dominated by deciduous flora I am struck by the strength of nature. Winter wasn't too harsh this year, yet there have been a few snow storms, frost and ice were prevalent, the air definitely chilly, and leaves turned brown in turn fell and left its host a barren skeletal form. This new DC is delightful and is emerging to reveal a lushness that teases even my somber moods into digging deeper for creative possibilities. As a metaphor on nurturing openings for transformation the passing from winter to spring has been very revealing. Thought provoking textile creations artisans expressed the intimate experiences of social, emotional and structural upheaval in their lives. The exhibition presented works created over a 200 year time line, covering early notions of nation building in the  USA  through dramatic representations of genocide and Sept 11, 2001.
